Georgetown Basketball: St. John’s Wrap Up

Georgetown-St. John’s have staged some classic games.

Yesterday was not one of them.

A short-handed Hoyas tell fell to the Red Storm, 88-69. Georgetown was without head coach Patrick Ewing, Donald Carey, and Kobe Clark.

Kaiden Rice led the Hoyas in scoring with 19 points.

The struggles were the same as it’s been all season. It started with turning the ball over. Georgetown had 21 turnovers as they threw the ball all over the place and, all too often, had players trying to dribble through 2-3 defenders. The Red Storm took full advantage scoring 29 points off of the Hoyas mishaps.

Collin Holloway led the team in turnovers with six. Aminu Mohammed and Dante Harris weren’t too far behind with four turnovers each.

Georgetown was once known for dominating the paint but it was St. John’s who lived off of paint touches. The Red Storm outscored Georgetown 42-24 in the paint with 14 fast break points.

The Hoyas never looked comfortable with the defensive pressure. A style that has been St. John’s head coach, Mike Anderson, style. All too often they looked like they were moving too fast for their own comfort.

Georgetown heads to Providence on Thursday followed by a Saturday date with Villanova.
