Georgetown fell to Butler tonight, 72-58.
The Hoyas fell to 6-7, 0-2 in the Big East. Butler improved to 2-2 in the Big East, 9-6 overall.
Tyler Beard led the Hoyas with 15 points and 5 assists. Jair Bolden had 19 for the Bulldogs.
The Hoyas were without head coach Patrick Ewing along with starters Donald Carey, Dante Harris and reserve Kobe Clark.
The Hoyas started off the game scoring the first six points on back-to-back three pointers from Collin Holloway and Kaiden Rice.
Butler would start getting penetration against to zone as they took their first lead at 12-10.
After some cold Butler shooting from the three point line, the Hoyas would retake the lead 16-14 on a Jalin Billingsley layup.
Back-to-back three pointers from Bolden and Bryce Nye put Butler up 27-25.
Georgetown would finish the half 1 for their last 7 as Butler went into the locker room with a 32-27 lead.
Butler came out and scored the first eight points of the half as they took their biggest lead (at the time) of the game at 40-27. The lead would grow to 15 on a Bolden three-pointer.
With 13:07 left, Butler would lead by 20. The Hoyas would get within 10 points on a Ryan Mutombo rebound and finish with 1:43 left. That’s the closest Georgetown would get.
