Georgetown Basketball: UMBC Wrap Up

Georgetown used Kaiden Rice’s record setting night to blowout UMBC, 100-71.

Rice would set a school record with nine made three-pointers and end with a career-high 34 points.

Ryan Mutombo would finish with a career highs in points (15) and rebounds (11). Freshman Aminu Mohammed had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Hoyas would open the second half on a on a 7-1 run to push their lead to double digits.

The lead would get as high as 32 points outscoring UMBC (second half score) in the second half.

Early on, Georgetown was down 5-2 before going off a 20-3 run including making eight straight shots to take control early on. The run featured three made three pointers by Rice.

Later in the half, UMBC responded with a 11-0 run cutting the Hoyas down to 7 at 28-26.

Georgetown would nearly go four minutes without scoring as the Retrievers would take a 33-31 lead.

The Hoyas would answer with a 7-0 run regaining the lead.

Georgetown would go into halftime with a 48-40 lead.
