George Mason Basketball: ODU Preview

George Mason welcomes an old foe as they try to break a four game losing streak against Old Dominion (ODU).

Before leaving for the Atlantic 10, the Patriots (4-4) and Monarchs (3-5) were rivals in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

George Mason has had an extended break since coming back from the Crossover Classic (South Dakota) where they lost three games. It started with a three point loss to Washington. Next up was a 19 point loss to Nevada followed by a four point loss to South Dakota State.

Despite the losing streak, Josh Oduro continued his hot start. He was named to the Crossover Classic All-Tournament Team after averaged 18.7 points, 7.0 rebounds on 63.3 percent shooting from the floor.

If Mason wants to get back on track, it will have to start on the defensive end. In the last three games, the Patriots have allowed their opponents to shoot 48.1% (Washington), 52.6% (Nevada), and 54.9% (South Dakota State).

The Monarchs come to Fairfax having lost four of their last five. The only win in that span was a 62-61 win over Longwood.

Guard C.J. Keyser leads the Monarchs in scoring at 12.9 points per game. In his last outing, Keyser scored 19 points on 8-16 shooting in a 63-62 loss at East Carolina.
