Tonight’s Big Ten/ACC matchup between Maryland and Virginia Tech will be a night of remembrance and big time basketball.
The University of Maryland will celebrate the induction of the late Len Bias into the National Collegiate Hall of Fame. Bias was enshrined on November 21st.
As for the game itself, the Terps (5-2) will look to rebound from a 63-55 loss to Louisville. In the loss, the Terps were out-rebounded 51-25. After the game, Turgeon lamented the fact that Maryland couldn’t match the Cardinals physicality.
On the offensive end, Maryland shot just 28.6% from the three-point line. The inability to hit the three point shot impacted Julian Reese and Qudus Wahab. Maryland’s two big men combined for just 14 points.
Virginia Tech (5-2) are coming into tonight’s game on a two game losing streak against tough opponents.
The neutral court losses to Memphis (69-61) and Xavier (59-58) were the Hokies first two losses of the season.
Nahiem Alleyne leads the Hokies in scoring at 13.1 points per game. Alleyne shoots just 39.2% from the floor but he’s a respectable 40.6% from the three point line.
Keve Aluma, Justyn Mutts and Storm Murphy have scored 42 percent of the team’s points this season and have accounted for 51 percent of all Hokies scoring over the last five games.
