George Washington Basketball: Saint Francis Wrap Up

George Washington opened up it’s season St. Francis in Foggy Bottom before going on the road for the next three games.

After starting the game with two straight turnovers, George Washington would settle down as they had a 9-6 lead at the first media timeout.

George Washington would get hot from the floor making 5 out of their first 7 shots but they turned the ball over four times and gave up four offensive rebounds in that stretch.

The Colonials defense held the Red Flash to 28.1% shooting in the first half and Ricky Lindo Jr. (12 points) and UConn-transfer Brendan Adams (14 points) would catch fire leading GW to a 39-26 lead at halftime.

The second half started off as a half of runs.

Saint Francis opened up the half cutting deficit from 13 to 7. The Colonials would respond by pushing the lead back up to 12, 53-41 on a Joe Bamisile jumper.

Lindo Jr. would pick up his fourth foul with 12:30 left and the Colonials. That opened the door for the Red Flash and they would take advantage eventually cutting the GW lead to one at 57-56 after GW head coach Jamion Christian got a tech.

The Colonials would respond by going on an 14-2 run pushing the lead to 71-58.

Saint Francis would go on its own 10-0 run with 2:32 left.

Ronnell Giles’ layup pulled Saint Francis within 2 with 1:49 left.

Down one with five seconds left, Saint Francis had a chance to take the lead but Mark Flagg would miss a wide open layup. Lindo Jr. would make two free throws and then steal the inbounds pass to solidify the 75-72 win.
