Boxing: Terence Crawford’s legacy fight

Terence Crawford has been considered a pound-for-pound great fighter for years.

Crawford’s last eight fights never made it to the scorecards because he either stopped his opponent or made them out and out quit. In that streak are wins against Kell Brook, Amir Kahn, and Jose Benavidez.

He’s 37-0. Who why is this fight so important? Because he is in the glory days of the welterweight division and there’s this thought that, Crawford has had an easier road than fellow belt holders, Errol Spence Jr. and Yordenis Ugas. In fact, Porter owns a razor close win over Ugas.

This is why Crawford’s fight with Shawn Porter might be more important for him than Porter. If the boxing gods are cooperating, a Crawford win would leave to a fight against Spence in late 2022/early 2023.

That won’t happen without a win against Porter and that won’t be an easy task.
