Washington Football Team: What’s Next?

What’s next for the Washington Football Team?

WFT dropped to 2-6 after a very winnable game at Denver.

Ron Rivera was given 100% of the keys to the car. What does he do next? Does he take a hard look at both coordinators and determine if a change should be made now? After the season?

Both Jack Del Rio and Scott Turner have done poor jobs this season.

Unless there’s a dramatic turnaround, it can’t be a “run it back” situation. The losses are piling up and it can’t be blamed on injuries. When Washington lost Ryan Fitzpatrick there was veterans like Cam Newton. It was Rivera who determined that they were fine at the position and they aren’t.

The NFL is a quarterback league. There are special rules made to protect and make the quarterback position disproportionately important.

That means unless you have a generational quarterback, which Washington doesn’t, you need a quarterback that is 1A. It can’t be a 2 or a 3. Lets be honest, Washington has two third string quarterbacks on the roster.

The only person who can be held responsible for this is Rivera.

I’m not suggesting that Rivera should lose his job. What I’m saying is he has to be held accountable for this mess and should have an opportunity to fix it.

That starts with changing both coordinators in the offseason and finding a quarterback who is a difference maker not a game manager.

If not, I don’t know if Rivera likes what should be next.
