The Motor City Cruise has named DJ Bakker as their first head coach in franchise history.
Bakker has an extensive background with current Detroit Piston coach, Dwane Casey.
The last three yeas, Bakker served as an assistant and player development coach under Casey. He was also the summer league coach in 2019.
Overall, this will be Bakker’s sixth season with Casey. They spent two years together in Toronto and this will be their fourth year with the Pistons’ organization.
“This is a great opportunity I take pride in and will bring a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and work ethic daily to ensure this is a successful experience for our players and organization — Detroit is home,” said Bakker.
