Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be back in the ring this weekend in Miami.
Saying “in Miami” is strange enough. When you think Mayweather Jr., you think about big fights at MGM Grand Garden. Mayweather Jr. was Mr. Vegas. He dominated Cinco De Mayo.
This weekend’s fight almost feels like a fight in a ballroom where the staff has to move all the tables out of the way so friends, fans, and low level hanger-ons sit in some of the worse chairs ever created.
As if all of this wasn’t bad enough, the rules of the bout came out.
—No winner or judges
—KOs allowed
—Eight three-minute rounds
—12 oz. gloves, no headgear
—190-pound weight limit for Paul
Yes. You read that correctly. There will be no winner and no judges. What in the world is this?!?!
I’m willing to accept that there will be a lot of boxing exhibitions that will take place over the next few years but this is ridiculous.
What’s more puzzling is after seeing this Mayweather Jr. indicated that he’s willing to fight Conor McGregor again.

What will be the special rules in that one? No punches?
I was never a Mayweather Jr. detractor in the ring. He’s the best boxer of his generation and doesn’t get nearly enough credit because he’s viewed as being unlikable but this is ridiculous.
It would’ve been better if Floyd just stayed retired from being an active fighter and run his company. But it’s hard not get the feeling that Mayweather Jr. can’t live without the attention and fame that comes with being an active fighter.
I get it… what I don’t get is his pay-per-view sparring session with Logan Paul.
