While other teams where making, what they hope, are moves that get them deeper into the playoffs, the Washington Wizards acquired two players that most casual NBA don’t know.
Washington jettisoned off, former lottery pick, Troy Brown Jr. and Moritz Wagner in a three team trade that saw the Wizards get back Daniel Gafford and Chandler Hutchison.
The trade was met with a collective… who??? If someone told you Gafford and Hutchison worked on the 7th floor on your building, you would believe them.
But the two NBA-ers are here to help the Wizards in a couple of spots.
Gafford is a 6′ 10″ 22 year old that will help Washington with the gaping hole that they currently possess in the paint. Gafford wasn’t brought here for his offense (4.7 ppg). He’s here to be a presence in the middle and to fill the ever-elusive “rim protector” role.
Hutchison is a former first round pick that has appeared in only 7 games this season.
It wouldn’t be today’s NBA is you didn’t look at the deal from a salary cap perspective. Looking at what Bobby Marks said about the deal, it’s easy to see how it benefits the Wizards’ books.

The Wizards are still in contention for the play-in round of the NBA playoffs. I don’t know if the deal will help them get over the top but I do know if you need an extra stapler, I heard there’s two guys on the 7th floor by the name of Gafford and Huchinson.
