The rematch with St. John’s was as fast pace as the first meeting… that’s where the similarities end. Georgetown would struggle against the Red Storm torrid shooting in the 94-83 loss.
The Red Storm jumped out to be a big lead only to watch the Hoyas cut a 16-point lead to 2. But St. John’s would respond with a 18-5 run eventually pushing the lead in the second half to 20.
The Red Storm was led by Greg William Jr’s 26 points and Julian Champagnie’s 20 point-9 rebound night.
St. John’s has it clicking on offense. They shot 48% from the field 45% from the three point line.
In the first meeting, Qudus Wahab was on block shot from a triple-double (17 points, 10 rebounds, 9 blocks). Tonight was a different story. The Red Storm used to sets to get Wahab out on the perimeter. The sophomore big man would get into foul trouble and eventually fouled out with 4:43 left in the game. He finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds.
Georgetown was led by Jahvon Blair’s 26 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists night. Donald Carey chipped in with 19 points.
After jumping out to an early, the Hoyas watched St. John’s go on an 11-0 run. The Red Storm would lead by as much as 16 in the half.
The Hoyas struggled with some of St. John’s 5-out sets. The Red Storm’s ability to pull the Hoyas’ bigs opened up driving lanes and drive and kick opportunities. St. John’s took full advantage of the opportunity hitting 10 of 19 three pointers in the half. They would end the half shooting 53% from the field.
Georgetown called on Donald Carey to carry them back into the game. Carey’s hot hand would lead the Hoyas with 14 points (5-6 shooting, 4-5 from three) and after being down double-digits for a good part of the half, Georgetown went to the locker room only down 49-41.

- After torching the Red Storm for 22 points in his first start, Dante Harris looked like a freshman tonight. He had 5 points and a team-high four turnovers.
