Chavez Jr. Misses Weight… Again

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. missed weight before his fight with Danny Jacobs

The one thing we know about Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., he’s not his father.

Once again Chavez Jr. missed weight before a big fight. The latest comes before his fight with Danny Jacobs. The son of the Mexican legend, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., was nearly five pounds over the weight limit of 168 lbs. This snafu will cost him one million dollars.

As reported by ESPN, the Jacobs’ camp didn’t trust Chavez Jr. on any level. Jacobs had two outs. If Chavez Jr. didn’t succesfully get an injunction of his drug suspension or if he was grossly overweight, Jacbos could fight a back-up fighter. But Chavez Jr. successfully got the injunction and Jacobs agreed to fight despite the weight issue, back-up opponent, Gabriel Rosado was moved to the undercard.

Rosado will remain on the undercard and face Humberto Gutierrez Ochoa.

The fight is scheduled to take place December 20th in Phoenix on DAZN.
