Georgetown Basketball: UMBC Preview, McClung Honored Again

The Hoyas look to avoid letdown against UMBC

Georgetown (7-3) is playing it’s best basketball of the season.

On the current three game winning streak, the Hoyas are averaging 87 ppg. With increased ball movement, Georgetown’s shooting percentage has been off the charts during this recent run. They are shooting 48.4% from the field including 45.9% from the three point line.

Tonight Georgetown squares off against UMBC (6-6).

The Retrievers play a three guard offense led by senior K.J. Jackson. UMBC’s head coach Ryan Odom has used nine different starting lineups in the first 12 games.

On paper this looks like a trap game but after what happened against UNC-Greensboro, the Hoyas should be focused.

Mac McClung Wins Big East Player of the Week

For the second week in the row, McClung was named Big East Player of the Week. In his last three outings, McClung has averaged 26.0 points and has shot 46.2 percent from 3-point range.

Syracuse’s Jalen Carey should have been given a technical vs Hoyas

On Saturday, Syracuse’s Carey was ejected from the game when he grabbed/tripped Georgetown’s Terrell Allen. The Big East home office said Carey should’ve also been assessed a technical for his actions.

The Hoyas beat their former Big East rival, 89-79.
