Week 1 was a ‘kiss your sister’ week if I’ve ever seen one. We were a Detroit Lions incompetent meltdown away from 3-1. Ugh.
Well… we can’t dwell on that. Lets knock week 2 out of the box!
Los Angeles Chargers (-2.5) at Detroit Lions
For three quarters the Lions looked good on the road in Arizona. One would think with a fourth quarter lead against a rookie quarterback things would be fine. It is Arizona for goodness sakes! But, Matt Patricia had other ideas and the game ended in a tie. Los Angeles seems to be in “prove it” mode with Melvin Gordon sitting out. The Chargers win over the Indianapolis Colts is better than some realize.
Pick: Los Angeles -2.5
Minnesota Vikings (+2.5) at Green Bay Packers
I loved how the Vikings attacked Week One. They attacked it by taking their quarterback, Kirk Cousins, out of the equation. Dalvin Cook’s 21 carry-111 yard performance allowed Minnesota to limit Cousins pass attempts to 10. It will be tougher against the Packers but if the Vikings can limit Cousins having to make plays, they should cover in Green Bay.
Pick: Minnesota +2.5
New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Rams Over/Under 52
Both teams are able to score points and, New Orleans’ defense knows how to give them up. The line (Rams -2.5) is tough to call, even though, I’m slightly leaned to the Saints plus the points. But, both teams should find success on offense for the Total is the place to be.
Pick: Over 52
Philadelphia Eagles (+2) at Atlanta Falcons
The Eagles got off to a slow start at home against Washington. Then they pounded their division mates into submission. Although the Falcons are at home, they are playing a quality opponent. That means I would have to trust Matt Ryan…. I don’t trust Matt Ryan
Pick: Philadelphia +2
