Midwest Region
Best Player: Coby White
Finding the best player in the Midwest Region was extremely difficult. It could’ve been anyone from Fletcher Magee to Dedric Lawson to Marial Shayock to Myles Powell. But when the dust settled, it was Coby White. The freshman point guard has learned how to balance his incredible scoring ability with the need to distribute the ball and run the offense.
The Midwest will shapes up as the toughest bracket. If UNC gets out of the first weekend, their opponents will push them into the last five minutes. That’s where White’s decision making will make or break the Tar Heels.
Upset: Seton Hall over Wofford
It’s a 7-10 game so people might not think this is a real upset but Seton Hall is the lower seed. Wofford has been more than a good story this season, they’ve been a really good team but Seton Hall is battle tested. In the non-conference schedule, the Pirates defeated Kentucky on a neutral floor and scored a true road win at Maryland. They were a Powell three-pointer away from winning the Big East tournament.
The Hall have won 4 of their last 5 which includes beating Marquette twice, a split with Villanova, and a blowout win over Georgetown.
Winner: North Carolina
