The Capital City Go-Go are just a few days from making their debut in NBA’s G-League. The Nation’s Capital has becomes somewhat of a hot bed for sports success. The Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup. The Washington Mystics made it to the WNBA finals.
Up next is Washington’s newest crown jewel. The Capital City Go-Go will make its home in the new Medstar Wizards Performance Center/Entertainment & Sports Arena. This will serve as the crown jewel of what appears to be a new beginning in that area of the city. Like the Go-Go, there’s a lot of excitement that comes along with it.
When the Go-Go open up their season on Saturday, what should fans expect? Coach Jarell Christian summed it up the best. “DC Go-Go music got it’s own style, that just going to be reflective in the way we play.” For those unfamiliar with Go-Go style music, get familiar with it. Owner Ted Leonsis naming the team after something unique to the city was a brilliant move that has stoked pride throughout DC.
Fans should expect the Go-Go to push the ball up when it presents itself. Pace will be important. Getting the players used to the style and terminology of the Wizards (parent team) is important. “It’s going to reflect the Wizards a lot… the terminology both offensively and defensively will be consistent with that of the Wizards,” said Coach Christian.
For a city full of new beginnings, the Go-Go should fit right in.
