The Presidents Cup as long be viewed as an event to bridge us to the next Ryder Cup.
The youth movement in golf has somewhat changed that. The Presidents Cup still isn’t on the same level of the Ryder Cup but it certainly has become an event worthy of standing on it’s on. Seven of the top 10 finishers in the FedEx Cup standings will be playing in the event.
The US Team have several players who have been playing well this season. Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth and FedEx Winner Justin Thomas.
The International squad has some of their main guns struggling a bit. Jason Day hasn’t caught a groove, in part because of his Mom’s health. Hideki Matsuyama was the hottest player on Tour for a while but has struggled immensely of late. Adam Scott has certainly seen better years. But, they do have some intriguing players who can make a difference.
Emilo Grillo looks like he’s ready to break out. Jhonattan Vegas and Marc Leishman have had solid years.
If the International Team wants to invoke some Sunday drama, they can’t fall down early. They must be in contention on Saturday if they want Sunday to matter.
