WBA Interim Light Heavyweight champion, Dmitry Bivol (9-0) and challenger Samuel Clarkson (19-3) both made weight in advance of their Friday tilt. The fight will be shown on Showtime’s ShoBox: The New Generation on Friday at 10 pm. The bout is scheduled to go 12 rounds.
Bivol is well aware of the big stage he’ll be on. “Clarkson is a big light heavyweight, but I have fought bigger guys. This is a tough fight, but we were willing to take a risk for this opportunity to fight on TV.”
This is only Bivol’s 10th fight but for Clarkson he’ll be in the ring for the 23rd time as a professional. “I’ve been in some war, Clarkson said, I know what it’s like to get knocked down. He hasn’t been there before. I need to stand my ground. I’m not backing up.”
