Loyola (MD) and George Mason squared off in the first round of the CBI Tournament. The Greyhounds used two major runs, one in each half, to pull off a 73-58 victory.
Scoreless Streak – George Mason went 7:50 without scoring in the first half resulting in a 13-0 Loyola (MD) run. George Mason shot 26% in the first half and saw a six point lead grow to a 13 point deficit. In the second half, the Patriots went on a 5:03 drought and resulted in the Greyhounds taking a 19 point lead.
All Conference Performers – Jarred Jones (2nd team) and Andre Walker (1st team) went a combined 10-22 for 23 points and 12 rebounds. While George Mason’s Marquise Moore (2nd team) went 0-7 from the field.
Eating Glass – Loyola (MD) dominated George Mason on the boards to the tune of 43-33. It was a team effort. Cam Gregory and Chancellor Barnard had 8 rebounds a piece and Jones had 7.
Never Say Die – George Mason cut a 25 point deficit down to 10 with 5:02 left. Kier, Livingston and Grayer combined for 34 points in the 2nd half. But after having two chances to cut the lead to 8 (7 with a 3) the Patriots went on a 4+ minutes drought.
