Tonight American University (4-9, 1-1) faces off against conference co-leader Bucknell (10-5, 2-0). The Bison were picked to finish third in the Patriot League (Lehigh and Boston U were ahead of them).
Bucknell boasts one of the best 1-2 punches in the league in Zach Thomas and Nana Foulland. Foulland’s back to back double-doubles earned him Patriot League Player of the Week. He’s averaging 14.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Thomas is 5th in the Patriot League in scoring at 16 points a game while grabbing an average of 6 rebound per game.
After dropping their Patriot League opener to Loyola (MD), the Eagles bounced back with a wild OT win at Colgate. AU had several chances to put the game away but were bedeviled by poor free throw shooting (13-31). But behind Mark Gasperini’s first double-double (15 points, 10 rebounds) and Lonnie Rivera’s 7 points and 12 rebound performance, the Eagles pulled out a 67-64 victory.
