Army and Loyola (MD) got to .500 this week with two wins.
Army (4-4) caught fire this week with victories over Fairleigh Dickinson and St Francis (BKN). The Black Knights got big weeks from Matt Wilson and Jordan Fox. Wilson was very efficient with his time. He scored 15 points in 18 minutes against Fairleigh Dickinson and 10 points in 16 minutes in the St Francis game. Fox averaged 13 points, 6.5 rebounds in the two games.
Loyola (MD) (4-4) also have a productive week. The Greyhounds defeated Stony Brook and Mount St Mary’s. In their one point win over Stony Brook, Andre Walker’s lay-up with .5 seconds left. Walker followed that up with a 12 points, 5 rebounds performance in the win over Stony Brook.
American (1-7) got their first win of the year over Western Illinois but dropped their next one to Howard. Lehigh (3-5) also split their week. After a loss to LaSalle, the Mountain Hawks came back with a win over Robert Morris. Tim Kempton led the team with a double double (15 points, 10 rebounds).
Holy Cross (3-4) also split their week on the road. In the win over Albany, Senior Robert Champion scored 22 points.
Bucknell’s (6-3) win over Richmond might be every bit as impressive as their win over Vanderbilt. Sophomore guard Kimbal Mackenzie led three Bison in double figures with 25 points in the 73-68 victory over the Spiders.
Lafayette (3-4) saw Matt Klinewski continue his big season with a 30 point-9 rebound performance against St Francis (BKN).
The Terriers might have been 0-2 for the week but both losses were close against power conference opponents. Boston U (4-4) dropped games to Connecticut and NC State. Senior Eric Fanning had two good games with 21 and 16 points, respectively. Navy (3-6) dropped two on the road with losses at Charleston and Furman.
Boston U wasn’t the only team to have a tough week. Colgate (2-7) dropped three games including two in the Holy City Hoops Classic. Included in the losing streak is an overtime loss to Campbell.
