Lehigh and American had hard fought losses and Lafayette scored a win in Thursday night’s Patriot League action. Lehigh dropped a tough on in overtime to Yale 89-81. Tim Kempton led the Mountain Hawks (0-2) with 30 points and 11 rebounds.
American got off to a slow start in their loss to Akron falling down by double digits early in the game. But, by the second half, the Eagles had cut the lead to 3 but could get no closer than 8 after that. Sophomores James Washington and Delante Jones led the Eagles with 18 a piece.
Lafayette battled back and defeated NJIT in overtime 81-80. The Leopards were down 9 with a little over four minutes left before Matt Klinewski led 10-0 run sending the game into overtime. In the overtime, Nick Linder hit 5 big free throws to help the Leopards prevail.
