Sports Betting: NFC East Win Totals

It’s that time of year. The time that the NFL takes over the mind of most casual fans in the the country.

Making the Cut is premiering a dedicated sports betting section. This section will go beyond our “Pick of the Day”. A feature we have randomly done in the past.

We wanted to open up with the NFL by breaking down each division starting with the NFC East.

Dallas Cowboys – 9

It shouldn’t be shocking that Dallas, if once again, the favorite to win the NFC East. On paper, they have a talented roster and, if healthy, nine wins should be well within their grasp considering the division that they’re playing in.

The first question you have to ask yourself is do you think Dak Prescott will stay healthy? The Cowboys can’t win with him because they weapons won’t be as effective without him.

Even though, I’m a Dak fan, I don’t think he’ll stay healthy and the Dallas defense isn’t good enough to steal multiple games. This team screams 8-8. Take the under.

Washington Football Team – 8

The Washington Football Team has the exact opposite problem that the Cowboys have. All the questions sit on the offensive side of the ball and it starts with the quarterback.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has never been able to be solid for an entire season. He’s a gambler ala Brett Favre but he’s more of the store brand version on the Hall of Famer. Where Washington differs from Dallas is this team can win with it’s defense which means if head coach Ron Rivera switches quarterbacks sometime this season, the Football Team can still win games.

I like the over for Washington.

New York Giants – 7

This might be the toughest of the four teams in the division. You just don’t know what you’re getting out of Daniel Jones and the health of Saquon Barkley.

The Giants did get some help for Jones when the picked up Kenny Galladay at wide receiver but is that enough for this team to get to seven wins?

Looking at their schedule makes me think the Giants will top off at seven wins if everything goes right. How many times does everything go right?

Take the under.

Philadelphia Eagles – 6.5

The quarterback situation makes me think something is going wrong in Philadelphia. Acquiring Gardner Minshew makes you wonder if management is comfortable with either Jalen Hurts or Joe Flacco. That doesn’t bode well for a team that was trending last place all off season.

Take the under.
