Castano-Omotoso: Castano Puts Undefeated Record on the Line

The last time Brian Carlos Castaño (15-0-1) was in the ring, he was coming off an impressive performance against Erislandy Lara. It was a fight Castaño thought he clearly won. The judges at ringside saw it different, ruling the fight a split draw. “I know I won the fight. I feel I was robbed,” said Castaño. Prior to the fight with Lara, Castaño had a dominating 12th round TKO win over Cedric Vitu.

On Saturday night, he’ll look to take out his disappointed on action fighter, Wale “Lucky Boy” Omotoso (28-4-0) at MGM National Harbor in Maryland.

There is very little similarity between Omotoso and Lara. Omotoso will come straight forward and will be open to exchanges, whereas, Lara traditionally had subscribed more to the “Sweet Science” aspect of boxing.

On paper, this should be a fight made for Castaño but Omotoso isn’t one who should be taken lightly. This is his third fight at 154 and he’s coming off an impressive win over Curtis Stevens.”None of the welterweights wanted to fight me because I’m too dangerous, so now I’m on my way to fighting the best at 154-pounds, said Omotoso. I feel stronger and more solid in my base at this weight.”

For Castaño, Saturday night is an opportunity to cement his place as one of the most dangerous fighters at 154. “I cannot wait to get into the ring again and show I’m one of the best fighters in this division,” said Castaño.
