Notre Dame finished the AP Poll ranked 5th in the country.
The Fighting Irish season ended with a loss to Clemson in the College Football Playoffs.
It’s a little surprising that Ohio State finished at 3 ahead of Notre Dame. It’s not to say that the College Football Playoff teams should be locked in the top 4, it’s the say the Buckeyes didn’t do enough to pass Notre Dame.
Clemson not only beat Notre Dame by 27 but they beat Alabama by 28. It seems that Notre Dame is being punished by the margin of the loss more than anything else. If the Buckeyes played Clemson, they would’ve had a similar fate to both of the Tigers’ victims.
