15th Round: What We’ve Been Waiting For

This weekend Canelo Alvarez (49-1-1) and Gennady Golovkin (37-0) meet in boxing’s latest super fight. Many fans have compared this fight to Marvin Hagler-Tommy Hearns. Lets hope it isn’t as short as that fight. Fans will be in for a treat if the fight turns out to be Alexis Arguello-Aaron Pryor I. After all the mouthing off about the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Conor McGregor fight, this fight better be an all time great.

Canelo Alvarez has been in this environment before. He faced off against Mayweather Jr., four years ago in a fight where he was totally outclassed. Ironically enough, that could be a theme that will come into play Saturday night.

Gennady Golovkin had steamrolled through all his competition until his fight against Danny Jacobs. Even though GGG outlanded Jacobs 231-175, Jacobs landed more power shots. This fight more than any makes some think Golovkin vulunerable.

Either way, these two fighters have created a buzz that boxing certainly welcomes.
