Marvin Bagley joining Duke is one of the scariest things you can imagine

When you watch Marvin Bagley on tape, his skill set to go along with his 6’11 frame isn’t something you see everyday. He’s big and skilled enough to go in the low-post and knock down a soft-touching hook shot, or he can stretch bigs out to the perimeter with his handling ability and knock down jump shots. In todays NBA, he’s a goldmine, and everyone will be coming watch this kid this fall at Duke whether they know they’ll be drafting him or not. And yes, he can run the floor at 6’11 and create for others. Shooting, passing, handling the ball, and versatility. Executives are gushing.

This is where the scary part comes in. Duke has maybe the best PG in college basketball going into the season in Trevon Duval, and also have the #1 ranked shooting guard in the country Gary Trent Jr, who is a straight bucket getter. Marvin reclassified and took over the number one spot at his position, where Wendall Carter was previously. Scary part, he’s a Dukie as well and Marvin is joining him and Duke now has the best frontcourt in college basketball in my opinion. Trent and Carter are two of the more college-ready freshman. I don’t think next year would have made the nation feel any better either, as #1 2018 PG Tre Jones committed to Duke a few days ago, whom Bagley was likely gonna join next year if he didn’t reclassify. Win-win for Duke.

With all 3 of those top recruits and Marvin, combined with Coach K coaching and a returning Grayson Allen, Duke is now back relevant in championship conversations. After this move from Marvin, you will see a lot of guys taking reclassifying more seriously now and speeding up their process and road to the NBA.
