Wizards lock up Wall long term

While the winds of change are blowing in Cleveland, Washington has been a model of stability.

First, the Wizards locked up Otto Porter to the tune of 4 years, $106M now it’s franchise player John Wall.

Wall has agreed to a four year, $170M extension that should be the all-star in town through 2023. The “supermax” contract will start in 2019.

Wall announced the extension on Uninterrupted.

The Wizards have locked up Wall, Beal and Porter but it comes at a cost. The club has guaranteed contracts for the next four seasons that amount to $126 million, $126M, $108M and $98M.

With Cleveland facing the potential departure of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, teams in the East are jockeying to put themselves in position to take over the conference.

With Washington locking up their three most important players, they’ve put themselves in that conversation.
