Atlantic 10: Fight to the Finish

As we near the end of the season, many conference races haven’t been decided yet. One of the conferences that is sure to have an exciting finish is the Atlantic 10.

Dayton and VCU are tied atop of the conference with identical 13-2 conference records. In the first match up, the Rams pulled out a hard fought 73-68 victory. In that game, Justin Tillman picked up for a rare bad game by JeQuan Lewis, by scoring 18 points and snatching nine rebounds. Overall, VCU outrebounded Dayton 41-24.

The schedule will present challenges as the Rams try to clinch the top seed in the Atlantic 10. Trips to Rhode Island and Dayton will not be easy and a home date with George Mason will present some challenges.

Since that loss, Dayton has won 7 in a row which includes a 6-0 February. That includes a one-point win at Rhode Island. The Flyers senior class, Kyle Davis, Scoochie Smith, Kendall Pollard, Charles Cooke and Jeremiah Bonsu have won 100 games in their Dayton careers. They are just one of 16 classes in the Atlantic 10 to reach the 100-win mark.

Two of Dayton’s last three games are on the road starting with a visit to Davidson.

As for other races in the conference, St. Bonaventure still has a mathematical chance to get the double bye. They are one game behind both Rhode Island and Richmond who are currently tied for third.
